In December 2018 the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IFATE) formally approved the Level 3 Library, Information and Archive Services Assistant standard ready to use. You can find the Standard here.
The next priority is to get everything in place so employers can start using in it. The two things needed are: A Training Provider to deliver the 20% formal learning element and an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) to offer independent assessment of the apprentices at the end of the process.
Several Training Providers have expressed interest to the Trailblazer group in delivering the training. If you are an interested Training Provider that hasn’t been in touch yet, please contact Julie Bell and Jacqueline Cheline.
CILIP wants to be an EPAO for the Standard and has begun the formal process of registering as an EPAO.
What do we need from employers?
The key thing to help both the Training Providers and the EPAO develop the resources, structures and sustainable business models is an awareness of demand. It would really help us if you could complete this survey so we can gauge demand.
We are looking forward to the day the first apprentices enrol on the Standard and even more so the day when they successfully complete. We will be working hard with our partners and the profession to make that a reality as quickly as we can.
